Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol(DHCP) is a server that automatically provides IP address in the Host machine. when the device is turned on the DHCP mode and connected to the network that has DHCP server. The host will send DHCP request to the server. after DHCP request reached on the server and server provide IP address for the host. in this article, we share how to configure DHCP server on Cisco.

Cisco DHCP Server Configuration

iou1#conf t

iou1(config)#ip dhcp pool dhcp_pool
iou1(dhcp-config)#network 192.168.100.0 255.255.255.0

iou1(dhcp-config)#default-router 192.168.100.1

iou1(dhcp-config)#dns-server 8.8.8.8

If you want to add another ip block then create another pool
iou1(config)#ip dhcp pool dhcp_pool1
iou1(dhcp-config)#network 192.168.111.0 255.255.255.0
iou1(dhcp-config)#default-router 192.168.111.1
iou1(dhcp-config)#dns-server 8.8.8.8
If you want to dissallow some ip address
iou1(config)#ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.100.1 192.168.100.10

If you want to dissallow a single IP
Router(config)#ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.100.10
